The Orange County Human Relations Commission is sponsoring a leadership
series on human relations and leadership in a multicultural community. Three
separate courses are envisioned, with each building upon the previous
course in the series.
The first course in the series is Human Relations Institute 101, a four-day
(28-hour) course that offers a multidisciplinary approach to understanding
complex and foundational diversity issues through the use of dialogue,
experiential exercises, and multi-media presentations. The focus
of this program is on human relations and leadership in a multicultural
community, with an emphasis on Orange County and building an inclusive
community.
The UCI Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity is a partner in
this program, and will sponsor the enrollment of up to three UCI faculty
and career staff. UCI participants will interact with representatives
from Orange County businesses, non-profit organizations, law enforcement
agencies, government agencies, and other educational institutions.
UCI faculty and career staff at all levels are eligible to apply. Applicants
selected to participate must be committed to attend the full institute,
and obtain the appropriate release time for the program. OEOD will pay the
registration fee for up to three UCI participants. Parking, continental
breakfast, and lunch are included in the registration. Participants are
responsible for their own transportation.
Human Relations Institute 101 graduates will receive a certificate signed
by the Orange County Human Relations Commission and the California Association
of Human Relations Organizations, and will be eligible to apply for enrollment
in follow-up courses in the leadership series.
To apply, go to http://www.eod.uci.edu/ochriapp.html or
