The UC Irvine Diversity Development Program (DDP) is a program that celebrates UCI's diversity while exploring issues that can arise in a diverse university community. Resolving these problems is essential to working in a harmonious atmosphere. Mutual respect for diversity means striving to understand differences in background, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and physical abilities within the UCI community. This program underscores the importance of faculty and staff responsiveness to diversity, which has implications for student retention, employee satisfaction and morale, and the quality of services offered to the University community. GOALSThe program addresses:
SPEAKERS/PRESENTERSA diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and administrators from UCI and other institutions, representing years of successful experience in diversity and/or human relations, present the program. SCHEDULEThe program consists of ten morning sessions, 9:00 am to 11:30 am, offered every other Wednesday from January through May. Please see the schedule for dates and topics of this year's program. ELIGIBILITYThe program is open to all UCI faculty and staff, regardless of job classification. In an effort to enrich the personal experiences and interpersonal interactions of each participant, a limited number of applicants will be selected each year. Each participant must commit to attend each session, and obtain the appropriate release time for the program. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the program. Program alumni will have the opportunity to contribute to future program planning efforts. REGISTRATIONThis program is FREE to all UCI faculty and staff.
