In collaboration with UCI 's Council on Faculty Welfare, OEOD has produced a five-year summary of ladder-rank faculty areas of underutilization. The groups for which underutilization is monitored include women and minorities, including African Americans/Blacks, American Indians/Alaskan Natives, Asians/Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics (consistent with federal regulations). Expected vs. Actual Representation of Ladder-Rank Faculty by School Department chairs are encouraged to utilize this information to consider equity practices in hiring and retention procedures and departmental support for career advancement. Faculty search committees are encouraged to review the information for their schools and take steps to broaden recruitment efforts and to ensure nondiscrimination and equal opportunity in the search process.
